THE BEST TIME TO COME AND SEE THE LAVENDER FIELDS IN BLOOM!

- Ferron-Joannette

LE MEILLEUR MOMENT POUR VENIR VOIR LES CHAMPS DE LAVANDE EN FLEURS! ||THE BEST TIME TO COME AND SEE THE LAVENDER FIELDS IN BLOOM!

When is the best moment to come and see the lavender fields in bloom?

This is probably the question that comes up most often: when is the best time to come and see the lavender fields in bloom? Usually, it is around mid-July that the blooming offers us the most beautiful spectacle! Obviously, this can vary slightly with the temperature, but the first few weeks of July are often the prettiest.

In July, we also diversify our activities to take advantage even more of the beautiful season. The musical performances will be back this year on Friday evenings & Sunday noon when we will receive artists from here to listen to their melodious voices.

This year again, it will be possible to come and admire the sunset in our fields on Thursday and Friday evenings in July. Mother nature in all her splendour. Moreover, if you plan to come and take some precious photos in our flowery fields this summer, the sunset evenings are one of the best times. The most coveted evenings by photographers, every summer! The luminosity, the colors in the sky, the temperature - all this is a real charm that gives sublime results to capture in the lenses of your cameras.

Everything you need to know about the Lavender bloom:

Lavender blooms from late June to early August.

Towards the end of June, the flowers slowly appear. They are white and begin to open slowly. Then, as we move into July, they become increasingly mauve. This is when all the fields turn this wonderful mauve as far as the eye can see. The first 3 weeks of July are often the prettiest. After that, it all depends on the weather.

Slowly, we begin to think about harvesting the flowers. Don't worry, we don't harvest all the flowers on the same day! It's a slow process. We start with a few rows & over the course of days, even weeks, we continue to harvest. We often start with Munstead Lavender, as it blooms earlier in the season. Lavandin is harvested in August. Since it blooms later in the season, this variety of Lavender allows us to stretch out the beautiful season. If you come to visit us in late July or early August, you're sure to see Lavandin in bloom.

The low season is when the flower harvest is well underway. Even if the fields are not as full, the off-season also has its attractions, especially the sublime perfume it offers. As soon as the flower harvest begins, the fields are flooded with the sweet & delicate scent of Lavender, which is often more discreet before the harvest. And don't forget that all our facilities - swings, bistro, picnic tables & relaxation areas - remain accessible even in the off-season. We promise, you're always welcome at La Maison!

This year, our lavender fields are open to the public from Friday June 23 to August 20, every day from 10am to 5pm, or from 10am to 9pm on Thursday & Friday evenings in July. During high season, admission is $12 for adults, $8 for teens and free for children.
